Hi my name is Jo and I opened Silk in November 2007. I married my wonderful husband in July 2007 and was inspired to open Silk as a result of my own dress shopping experience. I really loved my wedding dress and I felt it captured my personality, the feel of our wedding and very importantly, it was “age appropriate”.

Having said that when I went dress shopping with my mum, it really didn’t feel very special. I watched another bride’s own wedding dress being passed “willy nilly” over the top rail of her fitting room, I shared a mirror with another bride and nobody wanted to talk about my wedding day which after all was the reason that I was there in the first place! There didn’t seem to be a shop that offered a great service, with fabulous dresses and in a great location so I decided that I’d open that shop.

Since we opened, other stores have sprung up, all claiming to offer a wonderful bridal experience, but I’m really proud to have been one of the first of this new breed. Judging by the number of happy brides that walk out of our door with a dress in their arms, a smile on their face and a “Silk hug” to send them on their way, I think we might still be doing it just right!

Of course none of this would be possible without our fabulous designers. We have stunning collections from designers including Jenny Packham, Sassi Holford, David Fielden , Blue Bridalwear, Jesus Peiro and Pronovias. We have a great selection of styles and there really is something for everyone. Our prices range from £1500 to £2800, and we also have a few dresses at around £1100.

Silk is located in a beautiful barn conversion just 3 miles from the Cathedral city of Lichfield in Staffordshire. We’re really easy to reach and brides travel from all over the country, and beyond to visit us. See our location map or contact us. We really look forward to meeting you soon at Silk.
