All of our brides-to-be are allocated an hour and a half hour appointment in the diary. Many girls are very nervous when they first arrive at Silk, sometimes they just don't know what to expect or may have had a bad experience elsewhere.  It's our job to make sure you have a great time, whilst helping you to find the perfect dress too of course.

When you arrive for your appointment, we'll first make sure you're comfortable, and then we'll just have a recap over the information that you gave when you booked your appointment.  We love to share in the excitement of your big day, and we're really relaxed and friendly, so there will be plenty of time to chat and share your plans during your appointment.

Next we'll look through the dresses with you, talking you through the shapes and fabrics, shortlisting about ten dresses that you'd like to try on.  This number isn't set in stone but too many more and you can start to get confused.  We’re always happy to give advice if you request it but we’re never pushy, it’s just not the way that we work here at Silk!  You’ll have your own fitting room, your own huge mirror and a private and comfy viewing area for those whose opinion you trust most!  During your trying on session we’ll style you with our beautiful collection of Polly Edwards’s headdresses and, if you're planning to wear a veil, we'll help you to choose the right one that flatters both you and the dress perfectly.

Once you're ready to place your order, we'll take your measurements and will ask you to pay a deposit before placing the order for your dress with the designer.  Your dress will arrive here at Silk, about 8 weeks before your wedding date and our lovely seamstress Helen, who will be responsible for carrying out any alterations to your gown, will look after you through your fittings.  Helen is fabulous, just take a look in the "Our brides" section of the site to see some of the lovey comments that brides have made about her.  Helen will see you again for your second appointment to make sure that your dress fits perfectly and it is very rare that a further fitting appointment is required. At this stage you are free to take your gown away.
