Next you will take a look through all of our fabulous gowns to choose those that you would like to try on. We’re always happy to give advice if you request it but we’re never pushy, it’s just not the way that we work here at Silk! You’ll have your own fitting room, your own huge mirror and a private and comfy viewing area for those whose opinion you trust most!

Once you’ve tried on as many gowns as you wish, and have chosen the dress of your dreams, we will place your order with the designer, so we’re sure that it will be booked into their production schedule to be here in plenty of time for your big day. At this stage, depending upon timescales, it’s not always necessary to confirm your measurements to the designer, you can come back to do that a little closer to your wedding date.

When your dress arrives here at Silk, we'll arrange an appointment for you to come and meet our lovely seamstress Helen, who will be responsible for carrying out any alterations to your gown. Helen will be here again for your next appointment to make sure that your dress fits perfectly and it is very rare that a further fitting appointment is required. At this stage you are free to take your gown away or we will happily store it in our secure storage room for you until your big day arrives.

To give you peace of mind that your dress will be ready in plenty of time, you ideally need to order it at least six months before your wedding date. Don't panic if you don't have that long, just make an appointment to come to see us as soon as you can. Some of our designers have been known to perform miracles when necessary!
